HomeBuilder License Management for Dynamics 365 Business Central
Installing HomeBuilder Step 2 of 3 - Licensing
This is the second step in a three-stage process to get HomeBuilder installed and ready for further setup in Microsoft Business Central. The final step is shown at the bottom of this page.
You should already have completed the installation from Microsoft's AppSource. If not please go to Install from AppSource and come back here after completion.
License Your Company and Users
HomeBuilder uses a self-managed license approach; you choose the licensing you want for the companies and users in your database and you will be billed automatically for the choices you make. Please speak with your HomeBuilder account manager for more details.
Search for and open the page "HomeBuilder License Selections". There are two sections to this page:
- Companies:
- Select a License Type for each company. Once you make your selection, the system will warn you before taking an action for which you will be charged.
- Users:
- Click on "HomeBuilder Licensed" for anyone who needs access to HomeBuilder functionality. Note, that you will be charged for each user with access.
Additional Notes on HomeBuilder Licensing
After subscription to Suite Engine products, you need to set license types for your companies. There is one base BC license
- Base – standard Business Central functionality
and three HomeBuilder license types:
- Active – full HomeBuilder functionality.
- Warranty – limited HomeBuilder functionality which allows you to manage the business of the company after the construction of houses has been completed and all the lots have been closed. This includes after-sales service.
- Test – full HomeBuilder functionality with a limited range of posting dates (December and January only). The company name must contain the word “TEST”.
The second task is to specify which of the users will use the functionality of the HomeBuilder module.
- To set the license type for your companies and specify who will use the HomeBuilder module, open the page "HomeBuilder License Selections" using Search.
In this page, set the appropriate License Type for your companies. After you have changed the selection, the system will guide you through what will happen when you make the change. Carefully follow the instructions as they differ based upon the current value and the new value that you are choosing.
Afterwards, you will need to assign a license to particular users. Users marked with a flag "HomeBuilder License" have access to HomeBuilder functionality. The per-user license fee will apply to these users.
Basic User Setup
- Step 3 - To be able to use HomeBuilder fully you must add some additional setup to the base BC setup. The full explanation of this is in Functional Permissions and Roles.
