Implementing HomeBuilder
When implementing HomeBuilder Software, it is best to follow a sequence of activities. The reason for this is that the activity you plan to work on relies on the already existing setup. To clearly illustrate this point, imagine setting up your construction items before you have actually created a Company.
Important
- This chapter- Implementing HomeBuilder - relies on completion of HomeBuilder Install and Subscribe. You must complete it before proceeding with the current article.
- The recommended way to implement HomeBuilder is to start with the Template Company that we can provide. In this case, most setups described in the Help Files sections:
- Implementing HomeBuilder (you are in this section) and
- HomeBuilder Base Setup will be ready. In this case, you will be adjusting the current setup- working well for companies in the industry, not starting from scratch. If you prefer to build from scratch, this is also fine but will require more time.
Operations described in the chapters below should also be performed in the order they appear in the Help Menu, regardless of whether you use the Template Company we can provide or start from scratch. Here is a brief description of their content:
- Implementation Overview provides instructions regarding preparatory work required for the implementation. This is an advanced content with high impact and will create the backbone for the system.
- Implementation of Construction Items will require you to verify multiple setups before the actual implementation.
- Implementation Of Colour Charts is more of a directory leading to a few articles that will guide your process. You can have a fully functioning system without even using Color Charts/ Selections. This part is typically implemented at the end. (or not at all, depending on your business) However, to take full advantage of the system, most companies implement this part as well.
- Bank Rec Import and Co-Pilot AI contains instructions and video regarding Bank Reconciliation Import automation and, additionally, using the Co-Pilot AI to assist with it. Co-Pilot AI is particularly useful if you have over 100 transactions on your Bank Reconciliation.
- Creating a Template Company is only a high-level overview of the process required and the description of outcomes. It is a specialized process requiring additional tools and the ability to troubleshoot. We recommend delegating this to a HomeBuilder Team.
- Creating a New Company from an Existing Template will guide you through a process of copying and then configuring a New Company when you have a Template Company (described above) ready. This scenario is particularly important for holdings that consist of multiple active or holding companies.
- Data Migration explains how does data migration look like in Business Central. This covers many topics for HomeBuilder as well. The articles inside this section provide detailed guidelines for HomeBuilder-specific functions like Sales Retainage Data Migration that lie outside of the general Business Central migration.
